Neo crede che l'unico uomo in grado di rispondere a questa domanda sia Morpheus, personaggio sfuggente considerato l'essere vivente più pericoloso che esista. Una notte, in un locale, Neo viene avvicinato da Trinity, una bella straniera che lo conduce in un altro mondo sotterraneo e gli fa conoscere Morpheus. Questi conduce Neo alla presenza dell'Oracolo, una donna cui è affidato il compito di scegliere l'eletto. L'Oracolo gli dice che a salvarsi sarà lui o Morpheus. Il malefico Cyfer consegna Morpheus alla polizia, e Neo allora cerca di salvarlo, rientrando in Matrix. Dopo una sparatoria, Morpheus viene ferito, ma Neo lo trascina via e insieme scappano in elicottero. Neo è l'eletto. Mentre si avvia all'uscita di Matrix, un poliziotto gli spara e lo uccide. Trinity, accorsa sul posto, dice che lo ama. Neo risorge, Trinity e Neo si baciano. In un mondo dove tutto è possibile, quello che accadrà dopo dipenderà da voi e da loro. (Cinematografo)
