Abstract: Sound & Rhythm takes the English language student through the first moves in learning how to decode the fast-moving flow of oral speech. It provides the phonological concepts that shape English sound and works on developing the student's ear, specifically training the student in how to take in a small stretch of sound and construct its meaning. While the primary focus is on the exploration of English sound for comprehension, a secondary outcome of Sound & Rhythm study is the ease of determining and correctly reproducing English pronunciation.Nancy Lippmann achieved her university degrees in the US, specialising in French literature (B.A.) and Education (M.Ed.) with action research in EFL methodology. Abstract: A South African crime boss institutes divorce proceedings against his wife who defends the action. Later, she is found shot dead in her apartment and the criminal husband charged with her murder. But have the police been too blinkered in their approach and too quick to conclude that the husband's criminal connections automatically make him the killer?So starts a flying trip to New York by the notorious lawyer, Jack Delaney, to investigate the husband's mafia connections followed by a trip to a 'Big 5' Game Reserve in South Africa to investigate his criminal connections in the highly illegal, but lucrative, rhino horn and elephant tusk trade. While this shows the husband to be a most unsavoury character, does it make him a wife murderer? Why would the husband have started divorce proceedings and then killed his wife? If murder was on his mind, would it have not been simpler and cleaner for the wife to take a long, long vacation -  mafia style?The murder trial starts and after many twists and turns, the evidence presented often leaves the reader to wonder if the husband was the actual killer or if he hired the killer and colluded with him. Abstract: Bleak House is one of Charles Dickens's major novels.The novel has many characters and several sub-plots, and the story is told partly by the novel's heroine, Esther Summerson, and partly by an omniscient narrator. Abstract: The fairy tales and legends of olden China are as ancient as the land itself. They have an oriental glow which can only be found in the orient. They glitter like precious stones, shine like gold and shimmer like multicoloured silks fluttering in the breeze. Abstract: VIE Festival was founded in 2005 with the goal of crossing the contemporary world, of intercepting new identities and subjectivities which stand out in the field of live performance. It takes place yearly every October in Emilia-Romagna Region, and it is organized by Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione, National Theatre based in Modena. The project spring from the ten-year lucky experience of Le vie dei festival that, from 1994 to 2004, has hosted some of the most interesting proposals of Italian and international summer festivals. Mixing languages and genres, showing foreign great theatrical experiences without forgetting the important Italian experimental theatre scene, Le vie dei festival proposed the works of several artists (Carmelo Bene, Thierry Salmon, Lev Dodin, Peter Brook, Maguy Marin, Joseph Chaikin, Philip Glass, Robert Wilson e Peter Stein …). VIE Festival focuses on the contemporary creation, wants to give to the look the responsibility of finding, of searching where the strength of the new is hiding today, the artists who are able to explore the areas of contact between the performing arts, the expressive areas where leaving the theatre interacting with dance, music, visual arts and cinema. The idea of modernity is combined immediately with that of complexity, something that is in constant motion and fast in its indefiniteness. The artistic research acts vertically, digging in depth. It does not indicate solutions, but rather raises some doubts. It is inclined to the "uncertain". At the base of the research for new languages there is always an urgent reflection on the contemporary world, a need for new contents. The festival aims to offer a wide range of artists who will confront themselves with a plurality of spaces, aiming at showing layers of artwork, poetry and looks which arouse the curiosity and urgencies, including the less codified. The plurality of languages will involve different audiences, aiming at erasing the prejudice on that contemporary is equivalent to incomprehensible and elitist. The Festival also stands out as a place of production or co-production of original works that will be created on purpose and then will enter the international circuit. This 11th edition take place in Modena, Bologna, Carpi and Vignola, and hosts the creations directed by Levan Tsuladze, Berardi Casolari, Anna Peschke, Virgilio Sieni, Gabriella Salvaterra, Nanfang Song And Dance Company, Mathurin Bolze, Nelson Valente, Pascal Rambert, Maguy Marin, Cuocolo / Bosetti, Michele Abbondanza, Snejanka Mihaylova, Motus, Giovanna Marini, Big Action Money, Marco Martinelli / Ermanna Montanari, Romeo Castellucci, Frank Van Laecke / Alain Platel / Steven Prengels. VIE Events section gives the opportunity to take part in some in-depht analisys moments, such as the study meeting "The scandal of the theatre" organized by the Department of Arts of the University of Bologna and by Paris–Sorbonne University. Abstract: Five Children and IT is a children's book, no. 1 of The Psammead cycle, written by Edit Nesbit and published in 1902. It has never been out of print since.The story begins when a group of children move from London to the countryside of Kent. The five children are Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother, known as the Lamb. One day they are playing in a gravel pit when they uncover a rather grumpy, ugly, and occasionally malevolent Psammead – an ancient sand-fairy with ability to grant wishes. The Psammead persuades the children to take one wish each day to be shared among them, with the caveat that the wishes will turn to stone at sunset. This, apparently, used to be the rule in the Stone Age, when all that children wished for was food, the bones of which then became fossils. The children's first wish is to be "as beautiful as the day". The wish ends at sunset and its effects simply vanish, leading the Psammead to observe that some wishes are too fanciful to be changed to stone.As expected, all the wishes go comically wrong. The children wish to be beautiful, but the servants do not recognise them and shut them out of the house. They wish to be rich, then find themselves with a gravel-pit full of gold spade guineas that no shop will accept as they were removed from circulation in 1816, so they can't buy anything. A wish for wings seems to be going well, but at sunset the children find themselves stuck on top of a church bell tower with no way down, getting them into trouble with the gamekeeper who must take them home - and so the wishing and the ensuing adventures continue.The book was made into a film in 2004 featuring Freddie Highmore, Jonathan Bailey. Jessica Claridge, Poppy Rogers and Alec Muggleton, with Kenneth Branagh as Uncle Albert and Tara Fitzgerald as the mother.
