Abstract: Ambientato in Giappone nel 2037, L'isola dei cani racconta la dolce epopea del dodicenne Atari Kobayashi alla ricerca del suo amato cane. Quando a causa di una contagiosa influenza canina, il governo decide di mandare in esilio tutti i cani di Megasaki City in una vasta discarica chiamata Trash Island, Atari parte da solo nel suo Junior-Turbo Prop e vola attraverso il fiume per ritrovare Spots, il suo cane da guardia. Abstract: American stop-motion animation in which future Japan sees itself overrun by packs of dogs which are beginning to spread disease to humans. A mayor's solution is to exile every dog to an island filled with toxic waste and rubbish, where they will live out their days away from civilisation. When a young boy is devastated to find his dog is missing, he flies a plane to the island where he enlists the help of its inhabitants to track him down. As the dogs become frustrated with their new home, they formulate a plan to get off the island and back to the mainland.

Abstract: Der Leibwächterhund Spot des despotischen Kobayashi ist der erste Hund, der auf eine gewaltige Mülldeponie verbannt wird. Was den Pflegesohn des Bürgermeisters auf den Plan ruft. Als Atari mit einer Bruchlandung auf der Insel der Hunde aufschlägt, ist von Spot keine Spur zu finden. Dafür freundet sich der Junge mit fünf zerzaust aussehenden Alphahunden an, die auf die Namen Chief, King, Boss, Duke und Rex hören und Atari bei seiner Suche helfen. Derweil regt sich in Megasaki City Widerstand gegen die Regierung.
