Abstract: Harry Potter ha passato i primi dieci anni della sua vita abitando nel sottoscala della casa dei suoi zii, Petunia e Vernon Dursleys. Qui invece incontrano il gigante Hagrid, furioso con i Dursleys perché hanno impedito a Harry di leggere le lettere e che non gli hanno rivelato la vera identità dei suoi genitori. Harry infatti è figlio di due potenti maghi che sono stati uccisi non in un incidente stradale, come gli è stato sempre raccontato, ma in uno scontro con un mago malvagio che è anche l'artefice della cicatrice a forma di fulmine che Harry ha sulla fronte. Hagrid rivela al ragazzo che le misteriose lettere erano l'invito ad andare a studiare alla Hogwarts School, dove invece delle materie classiche si insegnano l'arte della magia e della stregoneria Felice per aver scoperto la sua vera natura, Harry accetta di frequentare la scuola, e si avvia a prendere il misterioso Hogwarts Express, il treno che parte dalla piattaforma 9 e 3/4 della stazione di King's Cross a Londra. Sul treno incontra dei nuovi amici, Hermione Granger e Ron Weasley, e insieme a loro si imbarca nella nuova avventura a Hogwarts, dove finalmente trova il calore e l'affetto che finora non ha mai avuto.
