Abstract: Harry sta per affrontare il suo quinto anno alla scuola di Hogwarts che si preannuncia particolarmente difficile per lui, anche perché nessuno sembra credere al suo incontro con il malvagio Lord Voldemort e al suo minaccioso ritorno. Tuttavia, per prevenire l'eventualità di un incursione dello stregone tanto temuto, il Ministro Fudge decide di inviare Dolores Umbridge, Inquisitore Supremo del Ministero della Magia, ad insegnare agli allievi la "Difesa contro le arti oscure", mentre Silente riunisce l'organizzazione segreta chiamata Ordine della Fenice, il cui compito è combattere Voldemort e i suoi mangiamorte. Abstract: Der Fürst der Finsternis versucht diesmal, die Macht in Hogwarts an sich zu reißen. Dazu öffnet er die "Kammer des Schreckens", die ein furchterregendes Ungeheuer birgt, dessen Anblick alle Kreaturen dieser Erde und auch jene Magier, die von Muggel - für Potter-Neulinge: normale Menschen - abstammen, derart erschreckt, dass sie zu Stein erstarren. Dieses bedauernswerte Schicksal ereilt zunächst Mrs. Norris, die räudige Katze des fiesen Schulhausmeisters Angus Filch, dann den Erstklässler und Nachwuchs-Fotografen Colin Creevey und schließlich sogar Hermine. Selbst der mächtige, allwissende Schulleiter Dumbledore (Richard Harris in seiner letzten Rolle) scheint geschlagen.
